It All Starts with an Idea
In the Fall of 2025, a certain student decided to pursue a degree in journalism. It might’ve seemed like an outside choice of major for her, but she steeled her resolve. It all started with a certain class, Journalism 112, Intro to Newswriting. Such an interesting class, delving into the tricks and history of the newspaper. So, there she sat. Someone who was skilled at both writing and talking, finding an interesting new career that involved both. So, she decided to practice this profession. Using her friends as guinea pigs, of course.
The main thought was this, create a weekly paper that keeps her friends up to date. About all sorts of things: connected drama turned into shocking headlines, weather updates and events to look out for, small hobbies thrown in for fun, and some little games for her friends to be able to interact with.
Nothing could go wrong. Except it already had. She simply had no clue where to start. Sure she was taking a class, but this idea came to her three weeks into the semester. Not much knowledge has accumulated. She decided to push forward regardless.
The Steps
To stop fretting and start working, she made a list. After brainstorming, she came up with this:
- Create a Blog Website
- Create a Title
- Practice Formatting
- Start Creating Something
- Create Sections
- Headliner Story of the Week
- Upcoming : Weather, Events, and Astronomy
- Fun : Horoscopes, Fun Fact, Mini Game
- End Page (Including Author Stories and a Suggestion QR Code)
- Attempt Writing the Sections
- Formatting
- Readability
- Publish First Issue
- Online Website
We’ll see how I do!
